How I become the best version of myself

As a Coach Contributor for the Positive Success Group (PSG) in Dublin, I had the pleasure to be interviewed about becoming the best version of ourselves.

This is a topic I am very passionate about, it is core to my coaching legacy and thus it also became my company name THE BEST POSSIBLE YOU - for personal and business growth.

Becoming the best possible version of yourself takes constant learning and improving.

Coaching is a key enabler for me in that ongoing journey.

Even being a coach myself, it is crucial for me to have my own coach. And I truly believe that everybody can benefit from coaching in their lives and professions.

So how has coaching added value to my personal and professional life?

Coaching has changed me personally in many ways.

First of all, I discovered what I truly value in life, how to make important decisions based on my values and also how to honour them.

I accelerated my corporate career by making the courageous decision to apply for a people management role in my late 20s, where coaching my direct reports become then a key factor for being a successful leader with a proven business impact.

When leaving my corporate job, I was overwhelmed by all the feedback on what positive impact my coaching and mindset has had on people’s lives and careers in the wider organisation and beyond.

Coaching has also helped me to follow my heart, further build on my strengths by setting up my own coaching business and organising some retreats as a next career step.

Living in accordance with my values helps to me to thrive.

What has enabled me to get the best out of myself?

I believe it all starts with having an open mind and taking care of yourself.

Personal development and growth by pushing myself constantly out of my comfort zone help me to always have the right empathy for my clients while they are going through change.

On top of that, physical well-being by exercising on a regular basis, discovering new places, practising yoga, spending some time "offline" in nature and ensuring a balanced diet - without being too hard on myself (which can sometimes be a tough one to be honest) - is very important for me.

Plus a good support system of like-minded people, who match my values and support my goals help me to be the best possible me at this moment in time. In the end, it all comes down to a healthy balance between body and mind for me.

This is also the concept I follow in my retreats, where we "recharge the body & mind" by also developing ourselves further in daily group coaching sessions.

In the end, my favourite quote sums it all up in any sense: "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving." (Albert Einstein)
